Installation guide

Set up ONEDots
the right way.

The automatic wizard is the recommended path. The manual reference below contains the full package groups, services, deployment steps, and hardware checks.

01 — Recommended

Automatic
installation.

The wizard shows the plan before it changes anything and keeps the order compatible.

01

Clone and run

Run as your normal user, not root.

git clone https://github.com/SamuelListiak/ONEDots.git cd ONEDots ./install.sh
02

Choose a mode

Full installation installs all groups, enables services, backs up ~/.config, and copies the configs. Custom installation lets you select stages while preserving the safe order.

03

What it handles

It bootstraps yay only when missing, installs official and AUR packages, enables NetworkManager, Bluetooth, TLP, and tlp-pd, creates a timestamped backup, and makes config scripts executable.

02 — Full reference

Manual
installation.

Use these groups when you want to inspect or install each part yourself.

01 / Bootstrap

yay prerequisites

Install these with pacman before building yay, or skip them if yay already exists.

sudo pacman -S --needed base-devel git
02 / Core session

Hyprland foundation

sudo pacman -S --needed hyprland hypridle hyprlock hyprpolkitagent xdg-desktop-portal-hyprland
03 / Desktop tools

UI and session tools

yay -S --needed awww fastfetch grim hyprmoncfg hyprsunset jq kitty libnotify pacman-contrib rofi slurp swaync swayosd waybar wl-clipboard
04 / Hardware

Network, audio, power

sudo pacman -S --needed bluez bluez-utils brightnessctl networkmanager tlp wireplumber yay -S --needed tlp-pd

Do not install the standalone power-profiles-daemon; tlp-pd provides its interface for TLP.

05 / Applications

Daily applications

sudo pacman -S --needed alsa-utils btop firefox mpc playerctl thunar yay -S --needed pwvucontrol spotify-launcher whatsapp-linux-desktop
06 / Fonts

Typography

sudo pacman -S --needed ttf-jetbrains-mono-nerd yay -S --needed ttf-monocraft

03 — Services and files

Finish the
installation.

01

Enable services

sudo systemctl enable --now NetworkManager.service sudo systemctl enable --now bluetooth.service sudo systemctl enable --now tlp.service sudo systemctl enable --now tlp-pd.service
02

Back up and deploy

cp -a ~/.config ~/.config.backup mkdir -p ~/.config ~/Pictures cp -a ~/ONEDots/config/. ~/.config/

The installer handles existing repository symlinks safely and creates a timestamped backup.

03

Check new hardware

Review config/hypr/hyprland.lua for GPU variables, monitor rules, startup applications, and paths. Review config/hypr/hyprmoncfg-monitors.lua for monitor-specific settings. Test audio, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, brightness, screenshots, suspend, and lock.
